SYMPTOM
A squeaking or crunching comes from the rear suspension when you drive over large bumps.
PROBABLE CAUSE
The rear bump stops are faulty.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace both rear bump stops.

DIAGNOSIS
Drive the vehicle on a road that has dips, a large rolling bump, or a similar condition. If the squeak or crunch occurs when the rear suspension goes through a large amount of travel, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE. If the noise is not a squeak or crunch, this service bulletin does not apply; continue with normal troubleshooting to find the cause of the noise.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
Replace the rear bump stops:
^ Refer to page 18-45 thru 18-48 of the 07-09 MDX Service Manual, or
^ Online, enter keywords BUMP STOP, then select Rear Spring/Bump Stop Removal/Installation from the list.
