Audio System - Radio Loses Station Presets

Audio Unit Loses Audio Presets

(Supersedes 08-007, dated March 11, 2008, to update the information marked by the black bars and asterisks)

SYMPTOM

When the different keyless remotes are used (Driver 1 and Driver 2), the audio unit intermittently does not retain the correct audio presets.

PROBABLE CAUSE

An internal problem with the audio unit does not allow it to recognize the keyless remote being used.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the audio unit with a remanufactured unit.

NOTE:
The inventory of remanufactured audio units has been updated to recognize the keyless remote being used.

Any repair performed after warranty expiration may be eligible for goodwill consideration by the District Parts and Service Manager or your Zone Office. You must request consideration, and get a decision, before starting work.

DIAGNOSIS

*1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), then turn the audio unit on, and make sure it operates normally.*

2. Turn off the audio unit.

3. Press and hold the No.4 and No.6 preset buttons, then turn on the audio unit.

4. Make sure DIAGNOSTIC MODE appears on the display, then press the No.2 preset button.

* Is the Main software version 3.0 or higher?

Yes - Disregard this service bulletin, and continue with normal troubleshooting.

No - Go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.*

REPAIR PROCEDURE

Replace the audio unit.

^ Online, enter keywords AUDIO REMOVAL, and select Audio Unit Removal/Installation from the list.
