DTC B1176: Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Circuit Short ('05-08 models)
- Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF, and then back ON (II).
- Wait for 30 seconds.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC B1176 indicated?
YES - Go to step 5.
NO - Intermittent failure, the fuel gauge sending unit circuit is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect the fuel pump/fuel gauge sending unit 5P connector.
- Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
- Turn the ignition switch OFF, and then back ON (II).
- Wait for 30 seconds.
- Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC B1176 indicated?
YES - Go to step 11.
NO - Do the fuel gauge sending unit test (see FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT TEST ).
- Turn the ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect gauge control module connector B (18P).
- Check for continuity between gauge control module connector B (18P) terminal No. 16 and body ground.Fig 1: Checking Continuity Between Gauge Control Module Connector B (18P) Terminal No. 16 And Body Ground

Is there continuity?
YES - Repair a short in the wire between the gauge control module and the fuel gauge sending unit.
NO - Repair the gauge control module.
