Buzz or Rattle From the Right-Front Area of the Suspension

SYMPTOM
During turns, a buzz or rattle comes from the right front area of the suspension.

PROBABLE CAUSE
The right-front damper spring is contacting the inner fenderwell.

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the right-front damper spring.

REQUIRED MATERIALS
Gray Brushable Seam Sealer: 3M P/N 051135-08656
(One can repairs about 20 vehicles.)

DIAGNOSIS
Check for a wear mark on the inner fenderwell. Turn the steering wheel, and check for spring contact with the inner fenderwell.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Remove the right-front damper assembly:

^ Refer to page 18-21 of the 2007 MDX Service Manual, Volume 2, or

^ Online, enter keyword SUSP and select Front Damper/Spring Removal and Installation from the list.

2. Replace the right-front damper spring:

^ Refer to page 18-28 of the service manual, or

^ Online, enter keyword SUSP and select Front Damper/Spring Disassembly, Inspection, and Reassembly from the list.

3. Repair any wear mark on the inner fenderwell by removing any corrosion and applying seam sealer.

4. Install the damper assembly.
