Major Adjustment

  1. Block front wheels. Raise and support rear of vehicle. Remove rear wheels. Remove rear console end cover. Release parking brake. Loosen adjusting nut in equalizer. See Fig 1. Remove rear wheels.
  2. Remove access plug "A". See Fig 2. Turn brake shoe adjuster "B" with a flat-blade screwdriver "C" until shoes lock, then back of 8 stops. Repeat this adjustment on other side of vehicle.
  3. Check number of clicks required to fully lock parking brake. See PARKING BRAKE ADJUSTMENT CHECK  table under ADJUSTMENT CHECK. If parking brake does not lock within specified number of clicks, perform MINOR ADJUSTMENT . Reinstall rear wheels.
