Air Bag Warning Light Stays On, But No DTCS Are Stored

NOTE: Check for DTCs using SCS menu method before beginning this test. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)  under DIAGNOSTICS.
  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Ensure ignition is off. Inspect fuse No. 1 (15-amp) located in left underdash fuse/relay box. If fuse is blown, go to next step. If fuse is okay, go to step  5.
  2. Replace fuse No. 1 (15-amp). Turn ignition on and wait 30 seconds, then turn ignition off. Inspect fuse. If fuse is okay, system is functioning properly at this time. If fuse is blown, go to next step.
  3. Replace fuse No. 1 (15-amp). Disconnect SRS main harness 2-pin connector from left underdash fuse/relay box. See Figure. Turn ignition on and wait 30 seconds, then turn ignition off. Inspect fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, repair short to ground in fuse No. 1 circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  4. Disable driver-side, passenger-side and side-impact airbag modules and seat belt pretensioners. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Access SRS unit. See SRS UNIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect SRS main harness 18-pin connector. See Figure. Reconnect SRS main harness 2-pin connector to left underdash fuse/relay box. Turn ignition on and wait 30 seconds, then turn ignition off. Inspect fuse. If fuse is okay, replace SRS unit. If fuse is blown replace SRS main harness.
  5. Disable driver-side, passenger-side and side-impact airbag modules and seat belt pretensioners. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Access SRS unit. See SRS UNIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect SRS main harness 18-pin connector. See Figure. Reconnect negative battery cable. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and SRS main harness 18-pin connector. If battery voltage is present check for poor connection of SRS main harness 18-pin connector at SRS unit. If connection is okay, replace SRS unit. If battery voltage is not present, go to next step.
  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect SRS main harness 2-pin connector from left underdash fuse/relay box. See Figure. Measure resistance between SRS main harness 2-pin connector terminal No. 1 and SRS main harness 18-pin connector terminal No. 3. If resistance is 0-1.0 ohm, check for open in left underdash fuse/relay box or poor contact at SRS main harness connector. If connection is okay, repair or replace left underdash fuse/relay box. If resistance is not 0-1.0 ohm, replace SRS main harness.
