Allroad, A4, A6, A8, S4, S8 & TT

WARNING: Some vehicles are equipped with a passenger's side air bag ON/OFF switch. This switch should NOT be used in place of vehicle air bag system disabling and activating procedures.
  1. Obtain radio anti-theft code from vehicle owner and write down preset radio frequencies. To disable air bag system, ensure ignition is off and remove key. If vehicle is equipped with Audi Telematic by OnStar®, go to next step. If vehicle is not equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar®, disconnect and shield negative battery cable.
  2. On vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar®, Telematic and Telephone Control Module emergency (back-up) battery must be switched off prior to disconnecting vehicle battery. Connect VAS 5051 tester or VAG 1551/1552 scan tool to data link connector located under left side of dash.
  3. NOTE: Entry errors can be corrected by pressing the "C" button.
  4. Press scan tool buttons "0" and "8" to select adaptation channel 8. Press "Q" button to confirm CHANNEL 8 ADAPTATION 0 EMERG.BATTERY ON input is displayed on scan tool. Top row of display indicates adaptation channel selected and current adaptation value currently stored: 0 = EMERG.BATTERY - SWITCHED ON; 1 = EMERG.BATTERY - SWITCHED ON, TIME REGISTER RESET; 2 = EMERG.BATTERY - SWITCHED OFF. Bottom row confirms emergency (back-up) battery status.
  5. Press scan tool "0" button 4 times and "2" button one time to switch off battery. Press "Q" button to confirm input and display CHANNEL 8 ADAPTATION 2 EMERG.BATTERY OFF on scan tool. Press "Q" button again to confirm input CHANNEL 8 ADAPTATION 2 Q STORE CHANGED VALUE? on scan tool. Press "Q" button again to confirm input CHANNEL 8 ADAPTATION 2 CHANGED VALUE IS STORED on scan tool. Press right arrow button to store BATTERY OFF change and display RAPID DATA TRANSFER HELP SELECT FUNCTION XX.
  6. TO ACTIVATE SYSTEM, turn ignition switch to ON position. Ensure no one is inside vehicle and connect negative battery cable. Perform a system operation check to ensure proper system operation. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
  7. Input radio anti-theft security code and reset radio frequencies. Ensure radio, clock and power windows are operating properly. After reconnecting vehicle battery on vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar®, switch on Telematic/Telephone Control Module emergency (back-up) battery. If vehicle is equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar®, go to next step.
  8. On vehicles equipped with Audi Telematics by OnStar®, connect VAS 5051 tester or VAG 1551/1552 scan tool to data link connector located under left side of dash. Press scan tool buttons "0" and "8" to select adaptation channel 8 and go to next step.
  9. Press "Q" button to confirm CHANNEL 8 ADAPTATION 0 EMERG.BATTERY OFF input is displayed on scan tool. Press "0" button 5 times to switch on battery. Press "Q" button to confirm input and display CHANNEL 8 ADAPTATION 0 EMERG.BATTERY ON on scan tool. Press "Q" button again to confirm input and display CHANNEL 8 ADAPTATION 0 Q STORE CHANGED VALUE? on scan tool. Press "Q" button again to confirm input and display CHANNEL 8 ADAPTATION 0 CHANGED VALUE IS STORED on scan tool. Press right arrow button to store BATTERY ON change and display RAPID DATA TRANSFER HELP SELECT FUNCTION XX on scan tool.
