Steering Wheel Rotational Play

  1. Turn the front wheels to the straight ahead position. Measure how far you can turn steering wheel left and right without moving front wheels. If play is within limit, the power rack and pinion and linkages are okay. See Fig 1. If play exceeds the limit, adjust rack guide. See RACK GUIDE . If the play is still excessive after rack guide adjustment, inspect steering linkage and power rack and pinion.
