SRS Indicator Light Comes On For Bulb Check, Goes Off Then Comes Back On After Self-Diagnosis, But No DTCS Are Stored

WARNING: Accidental air bag deployment is possible. Personal injury may result. Avoid bumping SRS unit if ignition is on, or has been turned off for less than 3 minutes.

Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Erase DTC memory. Turn ignition on. If indicator light stays on, go to next step. If light goes off after about 6 seconds, system is okay at this time. See TROUBLESHOOTING INTERMITTENT FAILURES under DIAGNOSTICS.
Turn ignition off. Check fuse No. 1 (15-amp) in underdash fuse/relay box. If fuse is okay, go to step 4. Replace fuse if blown. Turn ignition on and check fuse again. If fuse is okay, system is okay at this time. See TROUBLESHOOTING INTERMITTENT FAILURES under DIAGNOSTICS. If fuse has blown again, go to next step.
Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Disconnect SRS main harness 18-pin connector from SRS unit. See Figure. Measure resistance between SRS main harness 18-pin connector terminal No. 3 and ground. If resistance is one megohm or more, replace SRS main wire harness. If resistance is less than one megohm, check for short in fuse No. 1 circuit. If circuit is okay, replace SRS unit. See SRS UNIT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
Connect voltmeter between SRS main harness 18-pin connector terminal No. 3 and ground. See Figure. Turn ignition on and measure voltage. If battery voltage does not exist, replace SRS main harness. If battery voltage exists, check for poor contact SRS harness 18-pin connector. If connector is okay, replace SRS unit, and recheck system operation.
