Fuel Gauge Sending Unit

Remove spare tire lid and fuel tank access cover from floor. Disconnect fuel gauge sending unit 5-pin connector. Remove fuel fill cap. Release fuel pressure by using a wrench, loosen fuel pulsation damper one full turn. Cover damper and wrench with a shop towel. Replace copper washers on fuel pulsation damper before tightening. Disconnect quick-connect connections from fuel pump. Remove bolts and fuel pump assembly from fuel tank.

Using a DVOM, measure resistance between terminal No. 1 (Black wire) and terminal No. 2 (Yellow/Blue wire) of fuel gauge sending unit. See FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT RESISTANCE table. If resistance is not as specified, replace fuel gauge sending unit.
