Removal & Installation Driver-side

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable driver-side air bag. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Remove Torx bolt covers. Using Torx T30 bit, remove Torx bolts securing air bag assembly to steering wheel. See Figure. Remove air bag assembly. Disconnect horn connector.
  2. To install, connect horn connector. Position air bag assembly in steering wheel. Secure with new Torx bolts. Tighten Torx bolts to 87 INCH lbs. (9.8 N.m). Install Torx bolt covers. Activate air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . Check system for proper operation. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
