Instrument Cluster Dimmer Switch: 3.5RL

  1. Remove lower left instrument panel cover. Remove screw and detach clips from driver's switch panel, located left of steering column. Pull back bottom and rotate top of driver's switch panel down to remove. Disconnect instrument cluster dimmer switch 6-pin connector. Using a DVOM, measure resistance between instrument cluster dimmer switch terminal No. 3 (Blue/Black wire) and terminal No. 4 (Light Green wire). While rotating dimmer switch dial, resistance should be 0-10,000 ohms. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace instrument cluster dimmer switch.
  2. Using a DVOM, check for continuity between instrument cluster dimmer switch terminal No. 2 (Red/Black wire) and terminal No. 6 (Black/White wire). If continuity exists with instrument cluster dimmer switch in CANCEL position (rotated until click), replace instrument cluster dimmer switch.
