DTC P0135, P0141 Or P0155: Ho2S Heater Circuit Malfunction

  1. Perform PCM reset procedure. See PCM RESET PROCEDURE/CLEARING CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Start engine. If DTC P0135, P0141 or P0155 resets, go to next step. If DTC P0135, P0141 or P0155 does not reset, problem is intermittent. System is okay at this time. Check for poor connections or loose wires between suspect HO2S and PCM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Repair as necessary.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect suspect HO2S 4-pin connector. Measure resistance between HO2S terminals No. 3 (Black wire) and No. 4 (Black wire). See Figure . If suspect HO2S heater resistance is 10-40 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace suspect HO2S.
  3. Individually check for continuity between ground and suspect HO2S terminals No. 3 (Black wire) and No. 4 (Black wire), individually. If continuity does not exist, go to next step. If continuity exists, replace HO2S.
  4. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between suspect HO2S harness connector terminals No. 3 and 4. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. See Figure . If battery voltage is not present, go to next step. If battery voltage is present, go to step 7)  .
  5. Measure voltage between ground and suspect HO2S harness connector terminal No. 3 (Black/Yellow wire). If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open Black/Yellow wire between suspect HO2S and ECU fuse (20-amp) No. 20 in underdash fuse/relay box.
  6. Turn ignition off. Reconnect HO2S 4-pin connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between PCM 26-pin connector terminal No. 12 (Black wire) and terminal No. 18 (Green/Red wire) for left HO2S-1, terminal No. 19 (Black/White wire) for right HO2S-1, or terminal No. 21 (Black/White wire) for rear HO2S-1. If reading is 0.1 volt or less, repair open in wire between PCM 26-pin connector and HO2S. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If reading is more than 0.1 volt, substitute a known-good PCM, then recheck. If symptom or indication goes away, replace original PCM.
  7. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM 26-pin connector. Using DVOM connected to ground, check for continuity at PCM 26-pin connector terminals No. 18, 19 or 21. If continuity exists, repair short in suspect wire between PCM and HO2S. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. If continuity does not exist, substitute a known-good PCM, then recheck. If symptom or indication goes away, replace original PCM.
