Safety Indicator Input Test: 3.2TL

  1. Ensure dome and trunk light bulbs are okay. Disable air bag system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Remove instrument cluster from instrument panel. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Disconnect instrument cluster 30-pin "A" and 14-pin "C" connectors. Check for bent, corroded, loose or disconnected terminals in connectors. Repair connectors as necessary and recheck system. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If relay terminals are okay, perform safety indicator input test "A". Test each specified circuit for continuity or battery voltage as indicated. Correct any problems as directed and recheck system. If no problems are found, go to next step. See Fig 1.
  3. Connect 30 and 14-pin connectors to gauge assembly and perform test "B". See Fig 1. Test each circuit for continuity or battery voltage as indicated. Correct any problems as directed and recheck system. If no problems are found, replace instrument cluster printed circuit board and recheck system.
