3.2TL (With Navigation System)
- Check fuse No. 6 (15-amp) located in driver's under-dash fuse/relay box. Disconnect Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) 3-pin connector located on left side of engine, near engine oil filter. Connect Test Harness (07LAJ-PT3020A) to VSS harness connector only. See Fig 1.
- Using DVOM, check for continuity between Red test harness clip and ground. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Black wire between VSS and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Using DVOM, check voltage between White test harness clip and Red test harness clip. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Black/Yellow wire between VSS and driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.
- Using DVOM, check voltage between Green test harness clip and Red test harness clip. If 5 volts exists, go to next step. If less than 5 volts exists, repair short in Blue/White wire between VSS, Powertrain Control Module (PCM), cruise control unit, and driver's multiplex control unit.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect other end of test harness to VSS. Raise and support front of vehicle. Place transmission in Neutral. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Block one front wheel, slowly rotate opposite wheel and measure voltage. If voltage pulses from zero volts to about 5 volts or more, go to next step. If voltage does not pulse as specified, replace VSS. See VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR (VSS) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. See Figure.
- Disconnect instrument cluster Blue 14-pin "C" connector. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using DVOM, check voltage between 14-pin connector terminal No. 2 (Blue/White wire) and ground. Block one front wheel, slowly rotate opposite wheel and measure voltage. If voltage pulses from zero volts to about 5 volts or more, replace speedometer. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage does not pulse as specified, repair open in Blue/White wire between VSS and speedometer. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
