Removal & Installation (2.5TL)

  1. TDC/CKP/CYP/CKF sensors are located behind timing belt. Rotate crankshaft pulley counterclockwise until No. 1 cylinder is at TDC. Remove generator, power steering and A/C drive belts. Remove dipstick and tube. Remove valve cover. Remove crankshaft pulley. Remove upper and lower timing belt covers.
  2. Loosen timing belt tensioner adjusting bolt 180 degrees and release tension from timing belt. Retighten adjusting bolt and remove timing belt. Remove CYP sensor and then camshaft pulley. See Fig 1. Remove CKF sensor. Disconnect TDC/CKP/CYP sensor connector and CKF sensor connector. Remove back cover. Remove TDC/CKP sensor. To install, reverse removal procedures. See article in ENGINES section for timing belt installation procedure. Tighten mounting bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Recheck camshaft timing and ignition timing.
