Rear Disc Brake Pads: Installation

  1. Clean caliper thoroughly. Remove rust and check for grooves or cracks. Install pad retainers in appropriate positions. Apply Molykote(R) M77 compound to both sides of inner and outer pad shims. Install brake pads and shims. Rotate caliper piston clockwise in caliper to position piston (if necessary). Align cut-out in piston with tab on inner pad.
  2. Avoid twisting piston boot. Install brake caliper and caliper bracket. Install parking brake cable. Pump brake pedal several times to seat pads. Bleed brakes as necessary. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM . Adjust parking brake if necessary. See PARKING BRAKE under ADJUSTMENTS .
