Fuel Gauge Sending Unit Test

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove rear seat cushion and fuel tank access cover. Disconnect fuel gauge sending unit 3-pin connector. Remove fuel gauge sending unit (use Fuel Sender Wrench (07GAC-SE0020A) on 2.5TL and 3.2TL).
  2. Using a DVOM, measure resistance between fuel gauge sending unit terminals No. 1 (Black wire) and No. 2 (Yellow/Blue wire on 2.5TL and 3.2TL; Blue/Green wire on 3.5RL). See FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT RESISTANCE table. If resistance is not as specified, replace fuel gauge sending unit.
FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT RESISTANCE

Float Position (1) Ohms
Full 3.5-5.0
1/2 29.5-35.5
Empty 105.0-108.0
(1) In empty position, float will be aligned with bottom of fuel tank. Full position will be at highest position from bottom of fuel tank.
