Removal & Installation (2.2CL & 2.3CL)
- Empty brake fluid from master cylinder. Unplug brake fluid level switch connectors. Disconnect brakelines from master cylinder. Remove strut brace. Remove master cylinder mounting nuts and master cylinder. See Figure. Disconnect vacuum hose from brake booster. Remove vacuum hose bracket.
- Remove throttle control cable bracket. Disconnect engine wire harness connectors, then remove harness clamp. On manual transmission models, remove clutch reservoir and reservoir bracket. DO NOT disconnect clutch hose from reservoir. Loosen push rod lock nut, then remove cotter pin and joint pin.
- Remove clevis pin from booster push rod. Remove booster mounting nuts and booster. Pull booster forward, then turn it to the right until push rod is clear of bulkhead. Remove booster. To install, reverse removal procedure after checking push rod clearance and length. After installation, check and adjust pedal height. Fill and bleed brake system.
