WARNING:
Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See the AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM
article. All air bag wiring harnesses are covered by Yellow outer insulation. DO NOT use electrical test equipment on these circuits. Do not apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
NOTE:
When battery is disconnected, radio will go into anti-theft protection mode. Obtain radio anti-theft protection code from owner prior to servicing vehicle. Radio will be inoperative until proper code is entered.
Instrument cluster consists of a speedometer, fuel gauge and temperature gauge. Tachometer, oil pressure gauge, and voltmeter are optional on some models. All gauges use variable resistance sending units. Voltage regulator in the cluster ensures gauge readings stay constant as system voltage varies.
