Oil Pressure Indicator Flasher Test

  1. Locate integrated control unit located in underdash fuse/relay box in left kick panel. See Fig 1 . Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect integrated control unit Green 16-pin connector. Remove integrated control unit. Check for bent, loose or corroded terminals. Repair as necessary and recheck system. If terminals are okay, go to next step.
  2. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between fuse/relay box 14-pin "B" socket terminal B8 and ground. See Fig 1 . If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, check for an open in Black wire between fuse/relay box and ground connection behind left kick panel. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair as necessary.
  3. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using a voltmeter, check for voltage between fuse/relay box 14-pin "B" socket terminal B2 and ground. See Fig 1 . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check fuse No. 1 (10-amp) located in underdash fuse/relay box. If fuse is okay, check for an open in fuse/relay box circuit between terminal B2 and fuse No. 1. Repair as necessary.
  4. Start engine and allow to idle. Using a voltmeter, check for voltage between integrated control unit Green 16-pin connector terminal A2 (White/Blue(1) wire) and ground. See Fig 1 . If battery voltage exists, turn engine off and go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, check charging system. If charging system is okay, check for an open in White/Blue(1) wire between fuse/relay box and generator "L" terminal. Repair as necessary.
  5. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between integrated control unit Green 16-pin connector terminal A1 (Yellow/Red wire) and ground. See Fig 1 . If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, check for an open in Yellow/Red wire between Green 16-pin connector and oil pressure sending unit. If Yellow/Red wire is okay, replace oil pressure sending unit.
  6. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Check low oil pressure indicator operation. If indicator light does not illuminate, turn ignition switch to OFF position. Using a fused jumper wire, connect Green 16-pin connector terminal A1 (Yellow/Red wire) to ground. See Fig 1 . Turn ignition switch to ON position. If indicator light illuminates, remove jumper wire and go to next step. If indicator light does not illuminate, check bulb. If bulb is okay, check for an open in Yellow/Red wire between fuse/relay box and low oil pressure indicator light. Repair as necessary.
  7. Start engine. Using a voltmeter, check for voltage between Green 16-pin connector terminal A1 (Yellow/Red wire) and ground. See Fig 1 . Battery voltage should exist. If battery voltage does not exist, check for proper quantity of oil and lubrication system operation. If oil quantity is correct and lubrication system operation is correct, replace oil pressure sending unit.
