Removal (Front & Rear)

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheels. Remove caliper assembly, and support caliper aside so it does not hang from brake hose. See FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER  or see REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER  . Inspect rotor surface for cracks and rust.
  2. Use appropriate nuts and washers to hold rotor securely against hub. Mount dial indicator. Measure rotor thickness, parallelism and runout before removal. See Fig 1 . If thickness, parallelism or runout exceed specification, replace or resurface as necessary. See DISC BRAKE SPECIFICATIONS  .
