Pedal Play & Height

  1. Start engine and pump brake pedal several times. Measure brake height while pedal is applied for five seconds or more. Measure pedal height from center of pedal pad to floorboard, with carpet removed. To adjust pedal height, loosen stoplight switch lock nut, and back off switch until it no longer touches brake pedal.
  2. Loosen power brake unit push rod lock nut, and rotate push rod to adjust pedal height. See BRAKE PEDAL HEIGHT  . See Fig 1 and Fig 2 .
  3. Tighten lock nut. Adjust stoplight switch. See BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH  . After adjustment, turn engine off, brake pedal free play should be 0.04-0.20" (1.0-5.0 mm).
