Removal (Vigor)

  1. Obtain anti-theft code. Ensure front wheels are in straight-ahead position. Disable air bag system. See appropriate AIR BAG article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT Section. Disconnect negative and positive battery cables. Remove access panel from steering wheel lower cover. Remove Red shorting connector. Unplug connector between air bag and clockspring. Plug air bag harness connector into shorting connector.
  2. Remove air bag retaining bolt cover. Remove SET/RESUME switch cover. Remove Torx bolts and air bag module.
    WARNING: Place air bag module on bench only with pad surface up.
  3. Unplug connectors from horn and SET/RESUME switches. Remove steering wheel retaining nut. Apply steady upward pull while rocking steering wheel from side to side.
