Temperature Gauge Test

  1. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect Yellow/Green wire from sending unit. Ground sending unit wire using a jumper wire. Turn ignition on. Gauge needle should start moving toward "H" mark on gauge. Ensure to turn ignition off within 2 seconds, or before gauge needle reaches "H" mark. Failure to turn ignition off before needle reaches "H" mark may damage temperature gauge.
  2. If temperature gauge needle does not move, check for blown 10-amp fuse No. 23 in the dash fuse box. Check for open circuit in Yellow or Yellow/Green wires. Replace temperature gauge if fuse and wiring are okay. Check sending unit if gauge tested okay in step 1).
