Pinpoint Test 11

PINPOINT TEST 11: MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP (MIL) INDICATOR IS NEVER ON

Normal Operation
The instrument cluster receives the MIL status from the powertrain control module (PCM) over the high speed controller area network (CAN) communication bus. When a fault condition exists in the PCM, a DTC is set in the PCM and a message is sent to the instrument cluster to illuminate the MIL warning indicator.

DTC U0294 - sets if the PCM data is missing for more than 5 seconds or if invalid data is received and the instrument cluster turns on the MIL.
