Normal Operation
The instrument panel dimmer switch is an input to the instrument cluster through circuit (T/O). The instrument panel dimmer switch is grounded through circuit (B/W). The instrument cluster monitors the MS CAN bus on circuits (P/O) and (W/O) for a headlamps ON message. The headlamps ON message is generated by the SJB. When the instrument cluster detects a headlamps ON message, it sends a variable voltage to the module-controlled illumination sources through circuit (LB/R). The module-controlled illumination sources are grounded through circuit (B).
Possible Causes
- circuit (B/W) open
- circuit (LB/R) open, short to voltage or ground
- circuit (R/LB) short to voltage
- circuit (T/O) open
- instrument panel dimmer switch
- instrument cluster
- SJB
