Power Brake Booster Vacuum Check Valve and Hose Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Apply and release the brake pedal several times to deplete the power vacuum brake booster vacuum reserve.
2. Disconnect the vacuum brake booster check valve and hose assembly (1) from the power vacuum brake booster.




3. Remove the vacuum hose (1) and clamp (2) from the check valve (3).
Compress the clamp to release the hose from the check valve.
4. If equipped with the 6.0L engine, remove the upper intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement (6.0L) (Service and Repair).
5. Disconnect the vacuum brake booster hose from the intake manifold.

Installation Procedure




1. Connect the vacuum brake booster hose to the intake manifold.
If necessary, a small amount of denatured alcohol may be used as a lubricant to ease installation. Do not use soap.
2. Install the vacuum hose (1) and clamp (2) to the check valve (3).

3. If equipped with the 6.0L engine, install the upper intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement (6.0L) (Service and Repair).




4. Connect the vacuum brake booster check valve and hose assembly (1) to the power vacuum brake booster.
If necessary, a small amount of denatured alcohol may be used as a lubricant to ease installation. Do not use soap.
