Rear Suspension




Wheel Stud Replacement

Special Tools

J 43631 - Ball Joint Remover

For equivalent regional tools, refer to Special Tools Rear Suspension.

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.

2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (w RT2) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (w RT2)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (w/o RT2) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (w/o RT2).




3. Remove the rear wheel bearing and spindle. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement Service and Repair.

4. Using the J 43631 - remover(1), remove the rear wheel stud from the rear wheel spindle.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the new rear wheel stud from the back side of the rear wheel spindle.

2. Install flat washers on the rear wheel stud.

Note: Ensure that the rear wheel stud is fully seated against the rear wheel spindle.

3. With the flat side of a rear wheel nut against the washers, tighten the rear wheel nut until the rear wheel stud head seats against the rear wheel spindle.

4. Install the rear wheel bearing and spindle. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement Service and Repair.

5. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (w RT2) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (w RT2)Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (w/o RT2) Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (w/o RT2).

6. Lower the vehicle.
